How to store Android Apps on External SD Card?

Q. I have a Samsung Galaxy 3. Whenever I download apps from the Android Market, it automatically stores it in my Internal Memory card which is of 170 mb. Due to this, I can't download many apps on my handset as my internal memory gets consumed. Currently, I only have 30 mb left which is too less. Please suggest as to how I can store it on an External SD Card?

Thank you!

A. While it can be done from the settings, an easier way is to download App2SD:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd

Keep in mind that not all apps support this and that only part of the app really gets moved...

"This app is not used to backup apps to SD card. It only helps you to move a portion of apps used space to SD card. You have to manually install the apps after switching to a new phone or hard reset.

If app uses any of the following features, it cannot be installed on the external storage. It's required by Android system.
App Widgets,
Services,
Input Method Engines,
Live Wallpapers,
Live Folders,
Alarm Services,
Account Managers,
Sync Adapters,
Device Administrators

App shortcuts will disappear from the home screen after you move apps to the SD card. It's the limitation of Android system."

Why does my new Android phone keep saying I have apps open when I'd never opened them?
Q. Alright, I just got my new One X Android phone yesterday. When I go to my 'running apps' page or task manager, it says I have apps open that I've never even touched before.

Does anyone know why it's doing this? Is it a malfunction or is it supposed to do that?

Thanks!

A. The running apps list is more of a service list, like hitting control-shift-esc in Windows. The phone (dialer) itself is considered an app. The market (Play Store) checks for updates in the background, so it's running behind the scenes. Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc., all have apps running in the background. Gmail could be syncing your email account, checking for new emails, etc. If you have a desktop widget, that app is running in the background to get the information for the widget.

These are all supposed to be happening. Many apps are set to start automatically when the phone starts, and/or run again once closed for these reasons.

Most phones have "junk" apps that the cell carrier installs that will do the same thing- for example, NFL Mobile for Verizon. You can remove these apps by clicking on them in the installed app list and clicking Uninstall in the upper right. If you have a newer phone with ICS (go to Settings > About Phone and see if the OS version is 4.0.something or higher), you can also click on other apps and choose to uninstall updates and then disable the apps; this will prevent them from running.

What apps should I get for my Samsung Galaxy S2?
Q. I just got an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 and this is the first time I have ever had a smartphone or android. I have been searching on Google for apps but much of it is outdated, such that old "tweaks" or apps are already incorporated into the latest Galaxy S2. What are some good/must have apps for entertainment and better yet, productivity or phone management (stuff that keeps the phone running smooth). Thanks.

A. good and free android apps, also dont get task killer- on the new android phones they end up killing the battery.
