how do i network my tablet , computer and tv wirelessly?

Q. my friend has all the mac stuff. and has all his stuff hooked up wireless. so he can use his tv as the computer screen. or run netflix through his ipad and the movie pops up on the tv kind of like the ipad is being used as a remote. if im not mistaken i think he uses mac airplay. is there something similar i can use that is android/windows?

A. Apple has some propriety apps/protocols that their devices can use to work together on a network, but you can do most of the same functions with other systems and a regular wireless network. You'll just need a wireless router that you can connect all of your devices to so that they can access the Internet. A wireless-N router would be best and would provide the longest lifespan in terms of speeds since it's the latest WiFi revision out.

Once your iPad is connected to the WiFi you can use the Netflix app to stream movies to it, or watch Hulu, etc. Same with your TV, game console, etc.

Tablet for power points in class and once in awhile productivity?
Q. Talk about first world problems but I've been really struggling with what tablet I should choose. I'd like to use a tablet in class for reviewing lecture slides as the professor goes along as well as creating simple spreadsheets (although the more functionality the better) for when I'm in research. The ability to present a power point would also be great. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FFa5YGPVIs)

The options (in my mind):
1. Nexus 10
2. Microsoft Surface
3. IPad 4

Nexus 10 likes:
High res display
best internal hardware
100 dollars cheaper when purchased from google play
can probably get away with doing all the tasks of the other two..and is 100 dollars cheaper.

dislikes:
Not a champ for productivity
poorer battery life than almost any competitor.

M Surface:
Nice hardware
10.6" screen (I feel like bigger the better for productivity and I really like the added size) but still about as light as the others.
Lots of additional functionality like a file system, Microsoft office RT, USB support
would be nice to support Microsoft for once.

Dislikes:
outdated hardware (Tegra 3 processor)
probably would need the expensive cover/keyboard which I'm not sure I'd like to type on.

Ipad Likes:
Obvious benefits of greatest app selection, new great hardware, Airplay for apple tv.
Resale value.

Dislikes:
I really don't like being locked into Macs selection of apps. I feel like they are trying to limit my world and the content I view. They don't allow developers to use any SDK other than theirs for new web browsers and I just don't trust them.

So if you had to buy one of these tablets with your own money, for productivity purposes, which would you buy?

A. if you want a tablet that has full laptop functionality then you should
get the Microsoft surface RT
it really is an amazing tablet
it has a 10.6" screen with very good and high resolution
colors look clear and sharp on it
the tablet build quality is amazing
it feels perfect and its made from solid materials
the os on the tablet which is windows 8 is also amazing
its fast and fluid and also simple and easy to use
its made with touch in mind
the web browser is extremely good its fast and pages load up quickly
and it supports flash which is a huge plus and which is something that is lacking on most android tablets and all ios tablets
battery life is very good and would easily get you through more than 10 hours of heavy use
you can download apps from the windows marketplace which has many high quality apps
thousands of apps are being added everyday
more than 2000 apps were added in less than 2 days
it does have more than 40,000 apps now and like I said it will keep on increasing
it has dual cameras and both of them take amazing photos and videos
it has deep social network integration(skype, facebook, twitter, linkedin and so on)
you also get Microsoft office 2013 for free on it
and if you get the keyboard and attach it to it you'll have a laptop
overall the surface is an amazing tablet and you should get it
hope i helped :)

choosing between the ipad and galaxy tab?
Q. okay well for starts i used to be a apple fanboy untill my iphone got stolen and i started using an old galaxy nexus smartphone. completely in love with the andriod operating system, the fact that there's so much more room to customize is amazing. also the iphone being to 'restricted' in terms of the whole bluetooth and the fact that downloading certain files is non existent.
i want to buy a tablet of some sort to use for skyping, facebook, youtube and internet surfing here and there. i hear the galaxy tab is far superior then the ipad but the fact that my home theatre system has the feature airplay and correct me if im wrong here but thats only compatible with apple products.
If i were to buy and ipad it'd be the ipad 2 and to the contrary id get the galaxy tab 10.1 (both 16gb)
if i get a galaxy tab is there a way to controll my home theatre and tv?

A. You may be able to connect to an AirPlay system...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zappotvapple&hl=en

but being Android there is no guarantee that it will work for your particular set up. As you seem to be content just customising your devices rather than actually doing anything useful a Galaxy Tab will be ideal for you.

If I get an AppleTV, Can I use AirPlay to stream Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu Plus and Blockbuster @Home from my iPad?
Q. to my HDTV?

A. yes, but if you get a google tv bluray player (more specifically the Sony NSZ-GT1) it will do that and so much more, including a fully functional web browser, stocked android market, and yes, airplay ( with $0.99 Airtight App). I have them both and my apple tv is pretty much obsolete
