What accessories to wear with cocktail dress for party?

Q. I bought a coral, halter neck maxi dress to wear to work end of year party. Its similar to the dress in the link, but mine has a skinny coral belt with gold studs under the bust.

Can I program an Android application without actually having an Android phone?

I don't own a phone with Android (I actually have an iPhone...) but I would like to program some Android apps, without burning money on a phone. When it comes time to test my application on a live phone I have plenty of friends that would be willing to be guinea pigs.

A. Yes. The android SDK includes an emulator call AVD or Android Virtual Device. It is limited in some respects because it can't receive calls or be moved around for GPS testing, but for simple games and web-apps it's perfect for users who don't want to invest in a development phone.

However I recommend using the Eclipse Android Development Tool (ADT) plugin for all your work as the AVD launcher is built right into the normal launch system for Eclipse. Here's a page on how to install that:

A. if its not installed then your way of putting the newer android on there was a bust. or whoever did. they got a bad copy of it.

i would say reset the phone but it might put you back to 1.6.

or go to your applications list and it should be there if not then you need to put a new copy of android on. and if you bought it off the sony ericsson showroom itself BRING IT BACK AND HAVE THEM DO IT. should still be under warranty

How can I get my iPad map to show the zip code?

Q. I know that it will show it if I search by it. But if I search for a location, or pinpoint a spot on the map, it will give me everything about the address accept for the zip code.
I know there are other apps and ways of finding the zip code, but I dont' want to have to use two different sources.
Is there some way I can make my ipad give me the zip code for the points on the map?

On the android market there is an app that let's you pinpoint long. / lat., minutes / second, +/- GMT calc and zip and I think even country code and prefix info based on GPS ... apple market doesn't have it? I'm sure it would help if I had the name.


Is it possible to download movies from xbox live and upload them to my android phone?

Well im thinking how someone would go about doing this is first by downloading the movie off of zune (DURRR) and then maybe putting it on a zip/jump/flash drive, whatever you want to call it, and then after that put it on my droid. Or is it possible to skip the computer part and just upload it directly to my phone? Is this possible at all or do i need some special app/phone?

Dropbox and Google Docs

Dropbox is a free document cloud service (2gb). It allows you to upload files via a folder on your computer, and you don't need to go to the site. If you set it up on 2 computers, you should be able to...
save a file from your home computer to dropbox.
Open it a work. Edit and resave.
Have it there at home.

Only problem with this setup is you need to re-open/download the file. Dropbox does not allow for editing a document concurrently on two computers. However, its still great for Cloud files and easy access from several locations. Dropbox also has an App for iPhone, and iPad(probably android too, but i'm not sure)

Google docs is a free cloud service (5gb). It also allows you to upload files via a folder. Most Cloud programs do these days. The biggest feature is the ability to edit a document by multiple computers simultaneously-this is a great feature for group documents, as everyone can edit at the same time on the same, web based document. https://www.google.com/intl/en_US/drive/start/index.html

Is there a way to download A flash player on to my lg optimus smartphone?

A. I have this phone and its really dumb but the phone doesn't support flash player and theres no app in the android market for it. A. hey, i also have a zte (blade) and have gone through this problem before.

if you don't remember the pin code, enter a wrong one 3-4 times. then the phone would show an option to login to your google account. then login to it and then you will get an option to set a new pin code.

Is it possible to type while being recorded with the Skype app?

Q. Whenever I type on skype with the app (android) while video chatting, the person I'm skyping with's screen of me freezes during the duration. I was wondering if it is possible at all to type while continuing to record me. A simple "no" would suffice.

How to use a router to create home network without a Internet Modem?

Q. I have a Belkin wireless G router. I want to create a network between my laptop, my iPod touch, my Wii, and my Android phone. I don't have an internet connection, other than my phone (which can be it's own wireless hotspot, but doesn't allow file transfer). Is it possible to do this without wiring the router into a modem of some sort?

A. If your router came with an installation disk you can set it up by simply plugging it into your computer with an ethernet cable and then running the install software. You will create something called a Local Area Network (LAN) which you can link all your wireless devices to even though you have no internet connection.


How do I get a hacker out of my computer?

A. .Ink extension refers to shortcuts on Windows. So in short, you did not send the real text file but instead sent its shortcut to your phone.
You can find out where the real file is located by right clicking on the shortcut & going to its Properties. the box besides "Target:" shows the actual file's location. You can then go there and send it

A. First of all, Android is Linux. It's a custom Linux kernel with a special software layer on top. And the customizations to the kernel and the software layer sitting on top of it are pretty important for it to run on the rather specialized smartphone architecture.

Second, a kernel has to be compiled to run on a certain architecture. So you'd have to find a version of Linux compiled for an ARM processor. That's not much of a problem. Several distributions, including Ubuntu, have ARM kernels. But then you'd have to have kernel modules for the drivers of the smartphone hardware, which... isn't nearly as likely. And you'd probably need a specially-designed interface, since Gnome or KDE really wouldn't work on a 4-inch touchscreen. And all of that would also have to be specially compiled for the kernel. And that's before we start with the application software. And by the time you got all of that working... you'd essentially have Android.

And even if you could do all of that, you'd have to have some way of booting from the USB, which you can't since smartphone firmware boots the kernel directly, without any sort of bootloader like you have on a personal computer.

If you want Android to be more Linux-y -- whatever that means, since the Linux experience differs greatly based on the graphical interface (assuming you use one) -- you can install a terminal emulator and even the bash shell. If you play around with it a bit, you might be able to install some command-line Linux software. But even then, it wouldn't be terribly useful, given the limited ability to enter text on a smartphone.

Is there any way to practice coding in Python on an Android device?

Q. I don't want to write anything for an Android device, I just want a way to input code and view the output as a way to practice on the go.

No problem, I find Eclipse much better than anything else, and it's recommended for Android development. You could use other IDE's but Android has a plugin for Eclipse which will give you things like, intellisense, easily debug applications in the emulator, easily export unsigned and signed applications, easily view all threads, memory and all that lovely stuff.


What does it take to make a smartphone APP?
Q. Like apps for iPhone and Android. What knowldge do I need to have to make a quality app? Do different apps use different programming languages or is it all standard? How long would it take before I can make a good app?

A. To make a smartphone app, you firstly need a IDE (Integrated Debugging Environment). Like, to name few, there are: Eclipse, Carbide C++, etc. If you wish to develop you application program in Java, you need to have the JDK7u4.

Then get the SDK (Software Development Kit) for which you want to develop the apps. Like, the Android-SDK for developing the android app. Next thing is that, you will have to be good at your programming skills.

Once you get the proper IDE then download the SDK and run it. Select the option to integrate with the existing IDE.

What is the best android calendar for multiple phones?
Q. My wife and I both have the htc incredible and would like to figure out the best way to have synchronized calenders. The android marketplace is infested with calendars and I have no clue what my best option is. Basically I just want each of us to be able to add a calendar event and have it show up on both phones.

A. I rather like Android Agenda

Just config it so you show the SAME Google Calendar on both phones. You may have to "share" the calendar with the other Google account on the computer first. The calendar are specific to the account, but can be shared with other accounts.

Q. I have an android tablet (Nexus 7) and several micro-usb cables that I like to use. Some of the cables don't seem to charge the tablet as quickly as others and I was wondering if there was a way to see the exact power output or charge times in Android to get some hard data from it. I've tried searching for multimeter apps, and USB apps, but none of them seem to give the current charge rates or power statistics from the USB port.

What are some rpg games that allow you to pick your class in the beginning of the game?

Q. Like, for Android phones there is a game call "Inotia 1,2,3,&4" and when you make a new game you have to choose your class (warrior, wizard, knight, ranger, assassin, and so on) and I wanted to know other games for handheld or console like that.

A. If you're looking for more on your android, there's a game called Zenonia that I find very similar to Inotia (which I just started playing and love!). Zenonia is also available for PSP, if I'm not mistaken. The first two are $.99 on Android, and there is a 3 and 4 that are free as far as I've seen. On the Apple store they were all free at one point, so if you have a ipod touch/iphone, it's there also and cheaper.

Also on android is World of Magic, not sure if you get to pick a class on that one I played it a long time ago and forgot.

One of my favorites for the DS was Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles: Echoes of time. It allows you to pick a "race" at the beginning of the game and I'm pretty sure it is a sequel of a game in the series that does the same, though I never played that one.

If you have a Wii, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles:Echoes of Time is also available on it, though it is oddly set up as they didn't change the design when they ported it from the DS.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers on Wii is nice to play also, but I don't recall it allowing you to choose a class. You get the different races in your party as you play if I remember right.

On XBOX 360/PS3 there are MANY games out there that have this ability, not sure if you are inquiring about those or just handhelds. Dragon Age Origins and Sacred 2 are some examples I can think of. My fav on the XBOX 360 is Borderlands, which has a class system, but is also a shoot and loot rather than having RPG like game play, it has a bit more action than you might expect. Dungeons and Dragons Daggerdale is one that I've never played but having played Dungeons and Dragons in high school, I'm sure there is no way they could build this game without a class system. Oblivion and Skyrim have class systems, also. XBOX Arcade has several, like Crimson Alliance and Torchlight.

If you're looking only for android, I am posting a link to some top android RPGs. Zenonia 4 and Inotia 3 are on this list, so I figure some of the other games may be similar to them.

now open ical
go to preferences in menu
click on accounts
click on the + sign at the bottom
click select the account type to Google
enter your username and password
you are done with mac !!
now go to m.google.com/sync

in your android native browser
download the app !
and now enter the username and password

now, you are done !!!!

this app has preferences by which you can set the syncing schedule !! not once you add any event it will automatically be synced with mac once you turn on ical over mac

Why does apple want to pull EVI from the app store?

Q. The app isn't Siri, its a talking reference app. It doesn't have even close to the functionality of siri.
But its not competition. It talks to you and sounds like siri, thats about it. It doesn't do anything else siri does. Its pretty much just google.

A. Apple doesnt like any app that replaces or competes with an app that comes built into the device. They hate competition. Just another reason to use android instead.

Android is a much better os and the infuse is running 4g speeds (like all of the newer androids). But if i was you i would wait for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime to come out in a little while. It should be on AT&T but nothing has been confirmed about it yet, but it is going to be a VERY good competitor with the iphone 4s. Not to mention it will have the newest version of android which is much better then ios 5. I would also just go to an AT&T store and play with the phones there, you will be able to make your decision easier.

Is there any way to install a new ROM on Android without data wipe and factory reset?

Should I get the iPhone 4 or stay with my Samsung Galaxy S II?

Q. I have T-Mobile and if I get the iPhone 4, I will need to get it factory unlocked which I have no problem with. I am worried about whether or not I will get my moneys worth for switching to the iPhone. My Galaxy S2 is fine but I want the iOS for more customizations offered from jailbreaking. I have my Android rooted but it is nothing outstanding compared to the experience I had jailbreaking my ipod Touch.

So... Is it worth getting the iPhone 4 just for the iOS experience with jailbreaking? Is it worth sacrificing the better specs of the Galaxy S2?

A. I wouldnt jailbreak the iphone 4, I would go with the S II or III, the specs are a lot better.

What phone should i get Android vs apple?

Q. I'm planning on working for a new phone, and i'd like to know what i should get. Apple Iphone 4s, Or the Samsung Galaxy s3..

A. Samsung Galaxy s3, the screen size just makes it some much better for games and videos and with iPhones you need to use iTunes to transfer your files and music, but if you want something like iTunes for android you can try out Moborobo its like iTunes but better.

Plus with androids you can get a lot of the applications and games you have on iPhone but free.


What are the pros/cons for developing Android applications vs iOS?
Q. I am trying to get into developing for mobile applications, I dont know if I should learn iOS or android, I want to know what are the pros and cons from a developer/business standpoint

A. iOs = stability, money, security.

android = free for you to develop on

Apple will make you pay a fee that gives you a license to develop apps.
Android is free for you to develop on.
Apple will probably make you more money in the long run, and their code is much more stable to work with than android.

Is this happening to everyone else or is it just my Facebook account or something? A. Hello! Just doing a restore in iTunes will format the phone and put it to apple factory condition. But before doing that you need to make sure she's using the phone on the carrier which it's locked to. Many people are using phones locked to ATT on tMobile by jailbreaking it and unlocking the phone if this is the case, the moment you restore the phone it will only work in the carrier which the phone is locked to. If she doesn't need an unlock in order to use the phone just go ahead and restore it on itunes.

If she has a keylogger installed that means the phone is currently jailbroken allowing you to install anything you want. Immediately after restoring the phone you will no longer have a jailbroken phone so only apple approved apps will be allowed on the phone.

Also keep in mind that an iphone with older basebands have a better resale price than phones with new basebands and whenever you do a factory restore you update the phone to the latest baseband (modem firmware)


When will they have graal online classic on android phones?
Q. there is an app called graal (classic) that is only available on idevices..i was wondering if they were going to make it on android phones?

A. I'm pretty sure it's still in development.On top of that, the Android Marketplace is a rather lack-luster and dry place. Not much money is being made there due to the "open-ness" that is allowed. Granted, I love my Android and would see Graal being there as a totally positive thing, but viewed from a company's point, I can definitely see where it is an abyss of doom and destruction.

Due to the open policy of Androids Marketplace, just about anyone is able to upload and sell an App - which has led to a lot of unregulated apps that turn your phone into a paperweight (viruses, scams, keyloggers, information hacking, etc.). So right now, until Android gets it's act together, I can't say that I PERSONALLY see Graal opening up shop there.

Is there any good android Nintendo DS emulator?

Q. I've been searching for a Nintendo DS emulator for my Xperia Play and I don't seem to find one that works. Is there any emulator that isn't way too much resource demanding and could make a pokemon game work just fine? (My device has 512 mb RAM and a 1 ghz processor)

A. If it does work it will be quite jumpy. But it's highly doubtful. GBA emulator is more likely possible.

A. You can't.

There is no working, full speed DS emulator for Android devices (the only one that exists isn't really being worked on, and provides VERY slow FPS for any commercial games like Pokemon)

The only emulators that are decent are the GBA, NES, SNES, N64, and PSX

Do you need to know Java before starting Android programming?

Q. Right now I am learning Actionscript 3 with Flex/Flash , however I purchased a book about Android mobile programming(google) do I really need to know Java before starting Android Develop?
I was looking at some Android code, Of course I was not familiar with the syntax of it but I could understand the code.

A. ActionScript kinda gives you Objects, but does not require Objects. The Timeline is a crutch that chunks your proceedural code efforts.

Java, on the other hand, makes Objects mandatory to get anything done. After that, Android is much like Google Web Toolkit. Your java is then morphed into Android to run.

I would suggest the NetBeans IDE, add the Android plug-in. You get an emulator and a code syntax checker. Get a good book on Android.


How do I develop Android Apps in DrJava?
Q. I'm using DrJava, not Eclipse, as my Java IDE. I've downloaded the Android SDK, but I'm not sure how to add the files to drJava, or how to run it. If anyone knows, could you please answer? I'm not looking for the answer Switch to Eclipse, I'd much rather stay with this.

A. Yes it is possible to sell your personal apps through the Android market. The first thing you have to do is download the Android SDK and the eclipse IDE. Then, you can mess around with Android's customized version of Java for a while. Once you have your program written, you can set up an account with Google and submit it to the Android marketplace. There are links to the marketplace from the SDK website.


I'm a physicist and want to learn programming. Which language should I learn?
Q. I want a multi-platform language, that is strong (can build small as well as big applications) and can even be used for portable platforms (like Android). I have only some limited experience with Matlab. Which language do you recommend as a starting point?

A. I believe the 'natural' language of Android is Java. It's a good, modern, portable language. Also, Java is the standard language for the Eclipse IDE (Integrated development environment), which is totally free and has good support.

To be honest though, once you've learnt one object-orientated language, it's relatively easy to learn another one.

I want to buy a smartphone that isnt a blackberry?

Q. I have the blackberry bold 9700 right now. i want a touch phone like an android or iphone. im stuck between three phones. The iphone 3gs, samsung galaxy s II i997, and samsung galaxy s II i777. pleas help me decide which is best. im leaning more towards android.

A. The Galaxy S II is the i777, the i997 is the Samsung Infuse.

Both have a much larger display and are a lot more current than the iPhone 3GS (faster processor, etc). Another thing about Androids is the ability to add a SD card for extra storage- for a lot cheaper than going up to the next storage option for iPhones.

If you use a mac or iTunes on the PC for other devices, you'll be used to the interface and there's seamless integration w/ an iPhone. There's similar integration with your Google account with an Android... and either can really go either way with a little work.

Go to a local electronics or cell store and try them both out- they should have working models to use to see which you prefer. I'd personally suggest the Galaxy S II, if I had to choose between the threee, but it's best to give them a try if you havne't tried either before.


What apps are offered for the samsung captivate?

A. Trust me - you won't lose anything if you switch to the Captivate because it is android and the android market has an ever-increasing number of apps just like the iPhone. I have a friend who recently switched to the Captivate from her iPhone and she is so happy with the change! I've seen it in action and it is definitely an impressive phone! A. The main difference is the operating system (iOS vs. Android). However, that means quite a few changes- think going from a PC to a Mac.

Apps are developed and distributed differently (iTunes for iOS, Android Market and Amazon Appstore for Android)- you can't transfer ownership of an Android app over to an iPhone. Hardware is different (one specific hardware design for Apple vs. many manufacturers and hardware options for Android). Android offers more customization by default.

Beyond that, though, it's usually personal preference. Try going to a cellular store and playing with a demo unit and you'll be able to compare how it works and feels vs. your Android phone.


How is the Droid 2 better than the original?
Q. They now have the original droid for only $29 certified pre owned . I really want an android phone and i LOVE the droid 2. is the original just as good? how is the 2 better?

A. 1) Better keyboard, that touchpad is worthless and makes keys tiny

2) MUCH faster CPU (1 GHz vs. 550 MHz)

3) Twice as much memory (original droid has 256MB, Droid 2 have 512MB)
