How do you make an app/game to put on the android market?

Q. I have the Android SDK and Eclipse installed on my computer, I also have paid the $25 for a developer console on the android market. My problem is that I don't know how to use eclipse(I even watched tutorials and I'm still confused) and I want to make games to put on the Android Market, but I don't know how! Do I need anymore software or anything else? PLEASE HELP!!

A. You're gonna have to learn to write code eventually. Your programs probably won't even be approved for the market if you didn't put any effort into them.

As for licensing, I don't know the specifics for Andriod, but normally it's around $100 a year.

I think you should learn to code for yourself instead of trying to publish other peoples work. It's immoral and you could end up with a law-suit on your hands.

The Nook is capable of organizing books into 'shelves' to make it easier to find things. This organization must be done manually on the device; the file table is inaccessible so users cannot use third party software (such as Calibre) for external editing, due to DRM concerns.

As an Android device, the Nook Simple Touch can be modified to run Android applications[6] although this is a hack and is not supported by Barnes & Noble.

When you walk in with the Nook to Barnes & Noble store, you�re allowed to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.
- Nook allows for lending Nook books for two weeks to friends and family or share with your other devices that run B&N app (PC, MAC, Android phones, Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad, etc.)
- Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks.
Kindle only supports eBooks in its proprietary AZW format. Nook, on the other hand, supports both DRM-protected and DRM-free ebooks in ePub format thus it supports ebooks from B&N store, from any other DRM-free source on the web, and from public libraries.

Can I download the Android Gingerbread update on my phone later for free?

A. It's always best to upgrade and keep your device up to date. If the latest upgrade was sent from your service provider I would reccomend downloading it. Or if it's just your curiosity to download, make sure its froma reputable source. I wouldn't recommend downloading from a 3rd party source.
Additionaly if you do happen to upgrade and for some reason it's not compadable with your device, you can always uninstall the upgrade and revert to the older version.


Is it possible to uninstall an Android software update after you update?
Q. I have an HTC Inspire 4G, and I was wondering, if I don't like the update to Android Gingerbread from Android Froyo (2.2), if I could possibly go back to my original Android software (2.2). Also, does Android save all the contacts, even if they are stored on the phone, to my google account?

A. You should be able to go in to recovery mode and restore the backed up ROM that was on the phone before the update. Just read your manual on how to boot into the recovery mode or find your phone's forum posts on XDA or CyanogenMod and see how it's done.

How can I unlock the Droid X with out doing the factory reset?

Q. My aunt recently passed away and no one knew her unlock code for her Droid X and we don't know her Gmail account info. I know that we can do a factory reset but we need some of the contact info that she had in the phone. So if anyone can help me with this that would be amazing!!!

A. If its still active call it answer, then press the back button to go to the homescreen then do whatever just make sure not to end the call if not activated then srry, trying to fix my optimus v too :( androids kinda suck!

A. If you really like then Black berry is great. Almost every smartphone has apps so you can IM easily.

Difference is clear, actually Galaxy S3 is a new phone with some cool new features like eye tracking, fast access to camera with motion sensor etc. And also it has some hardware changes. But when you are totally concerned with texting, you won't feel any difference. Because both runs on Android you won't feel *great* differences in user interface. Because Galaxy s3 is old, probably you'll see some changes in on-screen keyboard, and word suggestion is also great but at the end both will be same almost . You can also make Samsung Galaxy S2 texting a lot better with some Third party apps which can be downloaded from the google play store.

Q. I am able to download the contacts to my android phone from my yahoo contacts but it doesn't add the addresses to the contacts. How can I get the addresses to transfer to my phone?

A. If you download the Yahoo Mail or Yahoo Messenger app (forget which one) from the Market, then your Yahoo contact should show up in your phone's address book. However, last time I checked this sync is one-way only, you cannot edit Yahoo contacts from Android's Address Book (must do it from browser). If you want two-way sync, you need to move your Address Book to Google Contacts or contact Yahoo and ask them to implement this in their app.

What is a good android tablet that is cheap?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to switch from mobile to non-mobile in the Android version of Yahoo! Messenger. The Android version is a mobile application and can only be seen as such.

Is there a way to get the Android Market to recognize downloaded android files (apk files)?

Q. I installed an app onto my phone from the sd card but I did not buy it from the android marketplace. I want to update it but since I didn't buy it from the android market, I still get the "buy" option rather than an update option. Is there any way to get the android market to recognize that I have the app installed so that I can update it?

A. no... Market only updates apps "bought" on the android market...

3rd party apps wont show on Martet download lists since you didnt get it from Google... you will have to update it from the 3rd party.... If they posted the app, then naturally they have the update too (like Applanet.net does)

A. Unfortunately, no. For starters, Android Market is designed for Android phones. Therefore, it has to be an Android phone to work. Second of all, the Android Market installer itself is a .apk file which only Android phones can execute. Other phones can't execute these type of files.

A. first off why would you want to rent a movie from android that cost a few bucks to watch a movie on your tiny screen why not try netflix (if your phones supported) also you can go to websites like www.ch131.com and watch movies off your phone there. now as for android market you need to have your debt card linked to your account (if you ever paid for an app then this step should be done) then you find the movie u want to rent (before i forget to do this you need the newest version of the android market if it isnt on your phone yet this is all pointless if you want it on your phone you need to side load the APK file to your phone (thats what i had to do) just google new android market apk and find it. then you can find your movie click on it then click on the price tag (should be a blue button) then click accept and pay. now after all that you can choose to stream it or choose to download it to your phone and view without using wifi or 3G/4G but you only get i think 24hours to watch the movie and im pretty sure thats 24hours from the time you press play not from the time you download it that dont mean you can have the movie forever till you click play there is going to be a time limit for that. i no its not the best answer but i tried

What is a good media player for high quality music?

How can i control my desktop with my laptop like a tv remote?

Q. I can use my Androids mobile phone as a remote control for my desktop using software called " Gmote " and i was wondering if i can do the same thing with my laptop. Gmote accesses my desktop through a server i set up on my desktop. i can then use the touch screen on my phone as a mouse control with right and left click. i should be able to do this with my laptop right? A. No, I don't get it. This question makes no senses. An SDK is not an application and has no applications, therefore adding an application to it makes no sense.

A. Yes. The android SDK includes an emulator call AVD or Android Virtual Device. It is limited in some respects because it can't receive calls or be moved around for GPS testing, but for simple games and web-apps it's perfect for users who don't want to invest in a development phone.

A. I took a class last semester on developing android apps. They have good tutorials on their website to get you started. http://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html I find it difficult and frustrating to actually go through the APIs and try to piece it all together. I think you're better off going through as many tutorials as possible and see how others use specific classes. From experience, android has a lot of random lines of code that are needed to get things to work and it is in no way self explanatory unless you are an expert. The link I provided should get you on the right path though. Programming android is actually fairly easy though.

Can i somehow emulate my androids screen on my pc? the screen is completely broken?

A. of course, as long as you have android debugging bridge and its set up once your phone boots up you have total control, my original droid fell and the screen doesnt turn on
just go to your command prompt -> type in adb devices to make sure your device is there -> then type in
adb pull / /sdcard/(Folder name for total backup)
Let it run, it will copy everything and anything you want and don't want
Special files u will want to keep would mostly be the data/app (All of your regular apps you downloaded)
/data/data/com. android. providers. telephony/databases/mmssms.db (Your text messages)
If you have other areas of the phone you want to keep you can mostly google them up

PS. A ton of people have an issue with using adb, just make sure after installing it that you add adb to your enviroment variables, the platform tools folder (Your cmd adds the folder to its local commands basically)

When I'm connected to an open wifi can people steal the information off my phone and steal my stock and along with it my credit card information?

A. The app might protect you some.. I don't know it. Read the specifics on your ScottTrade app.

Generally, if you are using an open WiFi access point, then anyone around you.. and especially the folks who set up the access point ( do you know them?) .. can monitor and even record anything moving in or out of that access point.

Phones also have bluetooth commonly turned on.. this is another possible way to hack info from your phone.

BUT.. this is probably (almost) as safe as using a laptop on a network. The site should be HTTPS (secured web page), so there is encryption there.
If you use good- strong passwords;
don't share them;
don't use the same password for your mail, stocks and bank accounts
if you keep an eye on your finances .. check every line of each transaction
and keep an eye on your phone usage

then you can minimize the risks.

You should be able to use some kind of two-factor authentication with your bank and with ScottTrade. Two-factors, meaning if you want to make a sizeable change in your investment stance (you set the threshold) , then they put the transaction through - but hold it pending a confirmation. That can be a phone call, you give them a verbal PIN, maybe they need to call a separate number or you need to answer a text message with a code..
The first authentication is you getting on the website with your password.
The second authentication should be something that isn't going to be in or in your phone.

I also suggest getting a security program ( like - but maybe not exactly Norton's) that allows you to remotely erase the phone if you lose it.
Then --- backup your data, and practice the emergency erase once or twice so you see how it works.. and you get to see how good your data backups are.

what is the difference between an i pad and a android tablet?

Q. want to buy a hand held computer but don't know what to get. Need low priced . Would a Android tablet be good.

A. Be wary of people that say "Android is better than iPad" or "iPad is better than Android" since they don't have a grasp on the difference between software and hardware. Android is an operating system that anyone can use, not a tablet. For example, an Apple iPad uses Apple iOS but a Samsung Galaxy Note uses Google Android. Some Android tablets are better than iPads and some aren't.

Because any manufacturer can use Android there's a lot more choice in devices and features/capabilities. This is why you have obviously determined that you can get an Android powered tablet cheaper than an iPad, but it won't be top of the line.

tl;dr If low price is your main concern go with one of the many budget friendly Android tablets, it may not be as nice as an iPad or top of the line Android tablet but it will be better than nothing.

A. Ok here is the deal with Google Market. You must be able to go into your phone/tablet (device) settings and add your gmail account. If your device does not have an option to add or sync account. Then you pretty much will not be able to use android market. That is how google has it set up. The main reason for this is the ability to attach payments of purchased items to your cellular provider. I agree it sucks but that is the way it is.


What can an android tablet do that an ipad cant?
Q. Im stuck on either going for an ipad 3 or an android tablet (preferably the 16gb nexus 7).

Never owned anything that ran android, always had apple stuff but im very low in cash and need to start spending my cash wisely.

A. It will be much easier to integrate with external devices and other computers/monitors/printers/software/etc.

Apple is very proprietary and also a very jealous/greedy company. They sue anyone who gets in their way, sell mass produced mediocre products, and come out with a new item with minimal upgrades every year. Apple is awesome for anyone with money to waste who does not need a computer to get any serious work done.

Plus, none of the people who built the android tablet you're looking at threw themselves off of a rooftop. Apple's plants in China have nets to catch the people. It only took a couple dozen people before they decided on the nets.

What is Instagram, should I get a iphone 4S?
Q. What is instagram? Should I buy a iphone 4S? I've seen many photos that looks very clear and high quality from a iphone.

A. Instagram is a photo-sharing social network which allows you to edit photos in loads of cool and interesting ways. You can then post these photos on Facebook or Twitter or just keep them for yourself if you prefer. You can do loads with it and is fun if you are into photography or not!

With regard to weather or not you should get an iphone 4S, that is down to what you want or need from a phone. I use the iphone 4S myself and like it a lot. It is easy to use and navigate. I do find that I never use the Siri so, for me personally, the iphone 4 is exactly the same. If you are a first time smart phone user I would recommend Apple because of their simplicity. Android phones do certainly have their strengths also so this might be worth researching too.

A. No. Instagram is only developed for iOS and more recently, Android. There is not a full web version either. If you can get your computer to dual boot Android, then yes it's possible. Google it.

A. Loaded question. I'll try my best.

Firstly, yes it is true that Android uses the Java Language but it doesn't use 'real' Java. In that I mean the form of Java it uses is one that has been specialised by Google. A lot of the standard Java API from J2SE is not available, further the parts that are available aren't a simple 1:1 line up of functionality - in essence if you want to learn Android development you're gonna have to 'begin again' so to speak.

You do have an advantage though already having experience of Java, it will serve you well in that the syntax and the structure of Android apps is very similar to Java.

The benefits can be quantified in terms of market exposure, application maintenance, developer support and programming delegation.

Market Exposure: In developing for Android enabled devices you open yourself to the world of mobile, tablet and possibly future desktop environments. Add to this Android's application market place and you have much of the marketing and publication duties handled for you by Google.

Application Maintenance: The same application marketplace and the Android API help simplify application maintenance and update delivery.

Developer Support: The Android API documentation is extensive and there are many forums that help developers with any problems they might have; the Android API also helps standardise the whole process and fine tune the end product leaving your projects less open-ended than traditional Java development where Java is developed with the intention of being cross platform Android is a single platform API.

Programming Delegation: Android API also provides many components for App development that can help you code your project while minimising the amount of boilerplate code you have to write.

Finally as for Books I can't recommend any unfortunately. I used Google's own API documentation for Android which contains tutorials and samples. Simply download and Install Eclipse for Java EE and then the Android SDK then the Eclipse plug-in and you're good to go. The Android API details how to do all of this. [1]

A. I took a class last semester on developing android apps. They have good tutorials on their website to get you started. http://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html I find it difficult and frustrating to actually go through the APIs and try to piece it all together. I think you're better off going through as many tutorials as possible and see how others use specific classes. From experience, android has a lot of random lines of code that are needed to get things to work and it is in no way self explanatory unless you are an expert. The link I provided should get you on the right path though. Programming android is actually fairly easy though.


How do I cancel or stop my android samsung galaxy s phones updates?
Q. While I was shopping in my android market place, I hit "update all downloads" now it's pretty much frozen up my phone and I cannot get it to cancel.
