Looking to make it easier for people to search and retrieve specific photos from their ever-growing digital

Judge rules Samsung cannot view iPad 3 or iPhone 5 prototypes

At the end of May, the ongoing legal battle between Apple and Samsung took an interesting turn. Apple got permission to see prototypes for new Samsung Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S devices. Samsung fired back and asked the judge for permission to see Apple’s prototypes, including those for the iPad 3 and the iPhone 5. Today, the judge denied Samsung’s requests and said Samsung’s request was over the line.
The major difference between the two requests was that Apple noted that Samsung’s prototype

LG's Plan To Win The 3D Smartphone Battle

Within the next few weeks, the number of 3D smartphones in the U.S. will zoom from zero to two. The first, HTC’s Evo 3D, will go on sale June 24 on Sprint Nextel. The other, LG’s Thrill 4G, will follow later this summer on ATT. Both phones run on Google’s Android operating system.
LG's new Thrill 4G smartphone is 3D-capable
Being second is rarely an advantage, particularly in the frenetic smartphone market. But LG is optimistic that its handset will thrive through a combination of content partnerships, user-friendly features and high-end hardware, said Tim O’Brien, the

The failing of Android as a tablet platform

I like Android. I own both a tablet and a smartphone running Android, and I find them both to be great mobile devices. I have tested and reviewed dozens of phones and tablets running some form of Android, and for the most part I have liked them all. My personal preference for Android aside, I have to be honest and state that Android is failing as a tablet platform compared to the competition.
Why would an Android enthusiast make that statement? Because the patchwork that is Android is not consistent enough to allow the platform to compete adequately with the

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: Top Android Tablet, Thinner, Lighter than iPad 2

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 inch tablet is the happy result of tech big-wigs doing something they don’t usually do … admitting a competitor is better. We need to do better.” The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 had already been unveiled in Barcelona, Spain at the Mobile World Congress, but after Apple showed off their skinny,

Can Apple iPhone 5 with radical new design stand against HTC's Android host of ...

As long as Apple delays the release of its iPhone 5, it would only strengthen its Android contenders. Apple recently revealed its nervousness about Samsung's product profiles by filing a patent lawsuit against its Korean supplier charging it of copying its iPad, iPhone and iPod designs.
However Apple has another foe in the waiting - HTC. The Taiwan-based phone maker bore the brunt of Apple lawsuits last year. HTC had launched its stellar products like HTC EVO 4G and HTC Droid Incredible last year. And although Apple has directed its ire against Samsung, HTC has a

Samsung Galaxy Tab vs. HTC Flyer comparison review

While it remains to been seen if tablets have a long-term future in the business market, there's little doubt that there's plenty of interest in the devices. That interest might be temporary but manufacturers are capitalising on it, and launching a number of new devices.
We're looking at two 7in models: the now relatively veteran Samsung Galaxy Tab and the brand-new HTC Flyer. While the Samsung is older, it compares favourably to the HTC, although it lacks the pen input of the newer device.
There are also hardware differences between the two, but we'll delve into those a

Motorola Droid 3 Pops up in GLBenchmark - A Verizon XT883 with OMAP4

It's just they for whatever reasons (Honeycomb delay, manufacturer's delays) it didn't show up in "popular" devices until this February. But Tegra 2 has been on the market at least 6 months before OMAP 4.And TI tends to pre-announce their chips much earlier than Nvidia so maybe that's why you think they were announced in the same time. For example they announced the OMAP 5 at MWC this year, and it's

Review: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

ZAR LILLEY

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is Samsung's new, big tablet - with a screen size of 10.1 inches, as opposed to the earlier, smaller model's 7 inches. And while I felt the 7-inch screen on the earlier Galaxy Tab was just a little too small, the new 10.1 Tab is just right.

Slightly narrower than an iPad 2 (which has a 9.7 inch, 4:3 ratio screen) it nonetheless displays websites, apps, videos and functions well over what is a very responsive touchscreen.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is clear and easy to use, and while the glide of the

Despite its good looks, Samsung's latest Galaxy Tab is still no match for the still peerless iPad 2.

My prediction is holding strong that we won't see a serious competitor to the iPad in 2011. The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has hit the streets and it's yet another in a long line of mediocre Android tablet experiences.

Wolverton: Samsung's Droid Charge disappoints

It carries a premium price -- but it's not worth it.The Charge is one of the first phones capable of accessing Verizon's new 4G network, joining the HTC Thunderbolt that I reviewed in April and the recently released LG Revolution.
