What happends when you factory reset your google nexus s.?

Q. I have the google nexus s. I heard that if you factory reset your nexus the battery life will improve. But if you do, hows can i back up my contacts and apps? I heard you can sync them but how? Thanks.

A. Your contacts should synchronize to your Google account, which, unless I'm mistaken, is required with the use of any Android device. I'm not sure about the apps.
