Q. I just got an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 and this is the first time I have ever had a smartphone or android. I have been searching on Google for apps but much of it is outdated, such that old "tweaks" or apps are already incorporated into the latest Galaxy S2. What are some good/must have apps for entertainment and better yet, productivity or phone management (stuff that keeps the phone running smooth). Thanks.

YouTube mate- download YouTube videos(sometinge gets rmoved from market, you can google it though)
IP webcam- use your phone/tablet as a webcam
Algeo- a scientific/graphing calculator similar to a TI 89
Adao file manager- manage your phones files
tv. com watch tv programs using wifi

free android games- this also depends on how good your phone is, some of the lower end phones cant use them (mine isnt that great)

lane splitter- traffic racing
death worm (demo)- play as a giant worm and terrorize people
asphalt 5- high graphics racing game

How to store Android Apps on External SD Card?

Q. I have a Samsung Galaxy 3. Whenever I download apps from the Android Market, it automatically stores it in my Internal Memory card which is of 170 mb. Due to this, I can't download many apps on my handset as my internal memory gets consumed. Currently, I only have 30 mb left which is too less. Please suggest as to how I can store it on an External SD Card?

Thank you!

A. While it can be done from the settings, an easier way is to download App2SD:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd

Keep in mind that not all apps support this and that only part of the app really gets moved...

"This app is not used to backup apps to SD card. It only helps you to move a portion of apps used space to SD card. You have to manually install the apps after switching to a new phone or hard reset.

If app uses any of the following features, it cannot be installed on the external storage. It's required by Android system.
App Widgets,
Services,
Input Method Engines,
Live Wallpapers,
Live Folders,
Alarm Services,
Account Managers,
Sync Adapters,
Device Administrators

App shortcuts will disappear from the home screen after you move apps to the SD card. It's the limitation of Android system."

What are some good apps that I can download from the Android App Store?
Q. I am planning to get an Android Nextbook 7" Tablet & eBook Reader soon.

A. I don't recommend you get the eBook- the nextbook has a ebook app, and you can buy ebooks from its store.

Why does my new Android phone keep saying I have apps open when I'd never opened them?
Q. Alright, I just got my new One X Android phone yesterday. When I go to my 'running apps' page or task manager, it says I have apps open that I've never even touched before.

Does anyone know why it's doing this? Is it a malfunction or is it supposed to do that?

Thanks!

A. The running apps list is more of a service list, like hitting control-shift-esc in Windows. The phone (dialer) itself is considered an app. The market (Play Store) checks for updates in the background, so it's running behind the scenes. Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc., all have apps running in the background. Gmail could be syncing your email account, checking for new emails, etc. If you have a desktop widget, that app is running in the background to get the information for the widget.

These are all supposed to be happening. Many apps are set to start automatically when the phone starts, and/or run again once closed for these reasons.

Most phones have "junk" apps that the cell carrier installs that will do the same thing- for example, NFL Mobile for Verizon. You can remove these apps by clicking on them in the installed app list and clicking Uninstall in the upper right. If you have a newer phone with ICS (go to Settings > About Phone and see if the OS version is 4.0.something or higher), you can also click on other apps and choose to uninstall updates and then disable the apps; this will prevent them from running.

Is there any manager of Android to manage my phone on mac?

Q. I bought a imac a weeks ago, i want to sync and manage data from my galaxy s2 to my imac. The Android Sync Manager WiFi i used on windows is great, and now i want such a Android Manager for mac users like it.
anyone can help me?

A. Try this Android Manager for Mac, it can help you backup and restore Android phone data on Mac; Add, delete, export, play music; set music as ringtones; import/export from/to iTunes library.

Please tell me if I am syncing locally or via cloud?
Q. I downloaded "android sync manager wifi" on pc and phone
i then synced outlook calendar and android calendar was successfully updated..
so is any of my data going via cloud or is it 100% local sync (wifi) (it may seem like dumb question but sorry im kinda dumb with trying to accomplish this objective (local desktop syncronization)

thanks for any tips or help

A. I am not familiar with Android Sync Manager Wifi specifically, however...
Unless the sync program gives you a website to sync with then you are simply syncing locally.

There are services that allow you to sync online aka "via the cloud". If you do this I suggest making sure you use a secure https connection to sync. Syncing to the cloud allows you to keep your Android calendar in sync 24x7 and not just sync when you get home. Then anytime you update your Android calendar during the day it automatically syncs to the online service. (this works for any smartphone, iPhone, Blackberry, etc as well as Android)

When you get home simply sync your PC/Mac to the online service and you're all in sync, all the time.

How to put iTunes' podcast on my android phone?
Q. I am looking for a free app or a practically free app to download to my rooted android phone (Samsung Infuse 4G - AT&T) that will sync my podcast to my phone almost like it does for the iPod or iPhone. I don't mind doing it manually either. A step by step of said recommendation would also be awesome. I am not very tech wise. Thanks so much.

:)
There is no media monkey in google play store

A. You shouldn't need an app for your phone.

Rather, get Media Monkey, and use that as your media manager. It supports RSS for podcasts.
I use Media Monkey, since I switched from iPod to a Sansa Fuze.

What apps should I get for my Samsung Galaxy S2?
Thanks.

A. good and free android apps, also dont get task killer- on the new android phones they end up killing the battery.
