Does anyone know any reader application in the android market?

Q. I want a reader app for my phone which has read aloud feature and supports epub pdf and chm files....cool reader doesnot work in my cell properly amd crashes very often. I'd preffer free apps bt if none i'd go for paid ones. By the way please list all the readers app you know. And please mention the unique feature of that app.

A.

How does Nook app for android work?
Q. I'm thinking about getting a nook simple touch and rooting and changing it into an android tablet. But I'm bit concerned about how nook app works on android. Is nook app on android exactly same as actual nook ereader device itself? Some feature like annotation, etc. differs between them? I need to know about this beforehand so please tell me if you know if there will be any difference.

A. As with the previous Nook, the Nook Simple Touch provides a "LendMe" feature allowing users to share some books with other people depending upon licensing by the book's publisher. The purchaser is permitted to share a book once with one other user for up to two weeks. The other users may view the borrowed book using a Nook, Nook Color, or Barnes & Noble's free reader software on an iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, BlackBerry, or any other device running Windows, Mac OS X, or Android.

The device has 2 GB of internal memory and can store an estimated 1,000 books. Of that 2 GB, only 1 GB is available to store content. Additionally, 750 MB of that 1 GB are reserved for content purchased directly from Barnes & Noble's e-book store, which leaves approximately 250 MB for other files. As with the original Nook, microSD and microSDHC memory cards can be inserted to expand the Nook Simple Touch's memory up to 32 GB. Unlike the previous Nook, the rechargeable battery in the Nook Simple Touch is not user-replaceable and is expected to last for 2 months with the wireless turned off, or 3 weeks with the wireless turned on. Unlike prior versions, the Nook Simple Touch lacks audio capabilities. Supported file formats include EPUB (DRM and non-DRM), PDF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP.[3] The nook continues to lack support for any formats that can be easily created by end users, such as txt or rtf.[citation needed]

The Nook is capable of organizing books into 'shelves' to make it easier to find things. This organization must be done manually on the device; the file table is inaccessible so users cannot use third party software (such as Calibre) for external editing, due to DRM concerns.

As an Android device, the Nook Simple Touch can be modified to run Android applications[6] although this is a hack and is not supported by Barnes & Noble.

Is it better to read from an actual book or read from an e-reader?
Q. I know people who would never read from an e-reader and I know others who only read from e-readers?
I was thinking of buying a Nook, and I was curious as to what's better about an e-reader??
Is there anything bad about it? What are the pros and cons?
What would you prefer? Why?

A. Hey, Jacob19, folks that get Nook report reading 3-4 time more as it's very easy to browse and download a book within seconds and also there's misslions books that are free. Most people do now have space at their places for too many book shelves and trips to library take time. E-Ink Nook has the latest generation touch screen display, no page turn lag, it weights less, and its battery lasts twice as long, and it doesn't blink on each page turn. Even though Nook Color has LCD touchscreen, it's a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight and produces less glare all of which are dooming reading on iPad. The screen is amazing and readable/viewable at wide angles.
When you walk in with the Nook to Barnes & Noble store, youre allowed to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.
- Nook allows for lending Nook books for two weeks to friends and family or share with your other devices that run B&N app (PC, MAC, Android phones, Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad, etc.)
- Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks.
Kindle only supports eBooks in its proprietary AZW format. Nook, on the other hand, supports both DRM-protected and DRM-free ebooks in ePub format thus it supports ebooks from B&N store, from any other DRM-free source on the web, and from public libraries.

What ereader is the best invest in, what is your opinion of the entourage dual screen Also what is a android?

Q. I have a sony ereader and although I love how small it is I am disappointed I didn't wait to get one that used different ebooks stores, for example with sony's I can only buy books from sony library or google. I have ordered the new entourage. I am going to school in Jan. and wondered if this will be a good investment.

A. You can buy e-books anywhere. Just purchase them in epub or PDF format on your computer and transfer them to your Reader. I do this all the time.

What are the biggest differences between the Nook and Nook Color?
Q. Want to buy one of them. If there is not that much of a difference I'll get the normal nook. I'm not into technology that much so please be detailed with your response to help me make a decision

A. Hi, Zack, if you mostly need eReader for reading then the best is to get e-Ink Nook Simpletouch. It has the latest generation touch screen display, no page turn lag, it weights less, and its battery lasts twice as long (two months on one charge), and it doesn't blink on each page turn - much better than current Kindle 3 or Kindle Keyboard. Also, current e-Ink Nook Simpletouch is still better designed than even the new Kindle Touch with battery lasting two months with ONE hour reading a day with Wi-Fi off thus it's still twice as long as new Kindle's two months with HALF and hour a day with Wi-Fi off. It looks like Kindle didn't get any battery improvement in the new model. More, Kindle Touch still flashes black on each page turn while Nook Touch reduces the flashing by 80%.
If you need something with color for the magazines, web, photos, and movies then consider Nook Color or rumored to be released soon Nook Color 2. Even though Nook Color has LCD touchscreen, it's a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and thus it better performs in sunlight producing less glare while reading on iPad in painful. The screen is amazing and readable/viewable at wide angles.
Overall, Nook Color is more than e-Reader as you can also watch video and use Android applications on it. It's a hybrid device, much more than just an e-Reader but not a full tablet as it doesn't have a camera. If all you want is to read novels, the e-Ink Nook might be better for you. If you want something more from your device (color graphs and charts of books, childrens books, photos and videos, web sites in full color) at half of the price of iPad or Galaxy tab, then Nook Color is your best bet.
Nook Color has several apps that already come with the device (Pandora Internet radio, etc.) and hundreds of other apps are available for download. Also, you can use the Social Settings screen to link your NOOK Color to your Facebook account and your Twitter account. You can also import all your contacts from your Google Gmail account. Once you have linked to Facebook and Twitter and set up email contacts, you can lend and borrow books, recommend books, and share favorite quotes with your friends.
All Nook models (unlike all Kindle models) have microSD card slot to expand the device capacity.
You can buy Nooks at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Millon, Walmart, BestBuy, Staples, OfficeMax, Fred Mayer, P.C. Richard, Radio Shack, etc. stores and web sites.
e-Ink Nook Simpletouch supports:
ePub (including Non or Adobe DRM), PDF, JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP formats.
Nook Color supports:
EPUB (including Non or Adobe DRM)
PDF
Other documents: XLS, DOC, PPT, PPS, TXT, DOCM, XLSM, PPTM, PPSX, PPSM, DOCX, XLX, PPTX
Graphics: JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP
Audio: MP3, MP4, AAC
Video: MP4
According to recently appeared leaks on the Internet, Nook Color 2 will be released by Barnes & Noble on November 7, and this device sure leaves Kindle Fire in the dust.
Leaked specs include:
- dial-core 1.2 Ghz processor vs. 1.0 Ghz of Kindle Fire
- 1.0 GB of RAM vs. 512 MB of Kindle Fire
- 16 GB capacity for apps, videos, photos, ebooks vs. 8 GB of Kindle Fire
- microSD slot to expand capacity even further by another 32 GB vs. no expandable capacity of Kindle Fire
- 1024 x 800 IPS HD display vs. 1024 x 600 of Kindle Fire
- 14.1 oz weight vs. 14.6 oz of Kindle Fire
- Netflix and Hulu Plus for millions of movies streaming built-in vs. 13,000 movies in Amazon store that allows no Netflix and Hulu

a nook or kindle just because.
don't preach to me about Jesus, i am not religious.
and one is for my birthday, they both aren't for Christmas.

A. Hi, Fixed, I'd recommend something for half the price of iPad but that'll give you all that you need from a tablet - portability, apps, music, video, and a great screen. It's Nook Color from Barnes & Noble that is the best value of the current tablet market at $250. Even though Nook Color has LCD touchscreen, it's a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and thus it better performs in sunlight producing less glare while reading on iPad in painful. The screen is amazing and readable/viewable at wide angles. You can get two Nook Color's for the price of one iPad. Nook Color is more than e-Reader as you can also watch video and use Android applications on it. It's a hybrid device, much more than just an e-Reader but not a full tablet as it doesn't have a camera. Nook Color has several apps that already come with the device (Pandora Internet radio, QuickOffice, etc.) and hundreds of other apps are available for download. When you walk in with the Nook to Barnes & Noble store, youre allowed to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. Nooks have USB port and microSD card slot. Nook store has over 2 million of paid books and about the same number of free public domain books. You can buy Nooks at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Millon, Walmart, BestBuy, Staples, OfficeMax, Fred Mayer, P.C. Richard, Radio Shack, etc. stores and web sites.

Are all ebooks compatible with all ereaders?
Q. I just recieved a MID ereader with wifi and an android market. What I am wanting to know is how do I download books to my ereader? I have internet access on my ereader if that makes a difference.

A. From what I am reading online about it, the answer is no. Look in the Owner's Manual for the specific formats that your ereader can read. From what I can see the formats are PDF (this is the Adobe Acrobat Reader format), RTF and EPUB (Adobe Digital Editions). Any ebooks that you want to read using the reader should bear those extensions, i.e. BeautyandtheBeast.rtf or BeautyandtheBeast.epub or BeautyandtheBeast.pdf. The extension of the document (the last 3 letters after the dot) is what will tell you what specific format a document is.

For downloading directly to it via wifi from an ebook store that has Android apps available, like Barnes and Noble or Sony, you need to have the app uploaded and installed in your tablet. You also will need to open an account with the corresponding ebook store you want to connect to using your gadget, in order to be able to purchase books from them.

From the info I can see, I don't know if you can connect the gadget for synchronization with your computer system, whatever it is. If you are able to, you will likely be able to upload books that are stored in your computer system, provided they are in the appropriate formats.

Can Literati Wireless Readers support Amazon eBooks?
Q. My friend just bought a Literati Wireless Reader and has been trying to download some of the eBooks she bought from Amazon onto it. She hasn't had any success so far so I was wondering if the Literati will even support those eBooks. Any help would be really appreciated.

Additional information. The eBooks are all veterinary medical textbooks.

A. From what I can see, the Literati is powered by Kobo, not Amazon (Kindle). This means the format is incompatible. Also, she can not connect to the Amazon store using a Literati. The only solutions to this would be:

1. To buy a Kindle ebook reader or a reader that supports uploading of the Kindle app to it i.e. Blackberry, iPad tablet, or Android based tablet.

2. Read the books via the Kindle app downloaded and installed to her PC or laptop.

3. To download the Amazon (Kindle) ebooks, strip the DRM from the books, convert to a format the Literati can read (epub or pdf basically), and then upload to the Literati or ebook reading device of her choice via her computer.

Is there any way to remove the DRM from iTunes ePub (ebook) files?
Q. I know Calibre plugins work for most other file types but is there any way at all to strip the DRM protection from iTunes epub files. I really want to convert the ebook to pdf so I can print it and I even bought it legit (for a change).

If not, is there a way to print it at least?

A. ePUB DRM Removal for Mac is a powerful software to remove drm protections from adobe digital editions. Just remove ePUB DRM header, no changes to the books.
Helps you read ePub on iPad, iPhone, iTouch, Sony Reader, Android, Nook etc.
