Atmel Corp., a manufacturer of microcontrollers behind mobile touch-screens, said Wednesday that it posted $90.9 million in net profit in the second quarter, reversing a loss from a year ago that was weighed down by a charge associated with the sale of its manufacturing operations in France.
Net income in the three months through June 30 amounted to 19 cents per share, compared to a net loss of $36.4 million, or 8 cents per share, a year ago.
Excluding charges for stock-based compensation and other items, adjusted earnings came to 26 cents
