Review :

When I first turned the EVO 4G on, I was struck by how bright and crisp all the icons looked Jessica Mintz, The Associated Press

The HTC EVO 4G finally landed at the LAPTOP offices a few days ago and weve put it through the ringer. Overall, we came away impressed: its fast, the large 4.3 inch screen is a thing of beauty, and it works like a charm when its feeding on Sprints WiMax network. If youve been considering an Android handset, the Sprint network, or just this phone in particular, we can confidently say that its definitely worth the switch. Marc Flores, LAPTOP

The EVO 4G packs practically everything a geek could dream of in a mobile device. Want fast data? This phone has 4G inside, boasting nearly five times the speed of 3G networks (where coverage is available). Wish you had a bigger screen for surfing the web and watching movies? This one is a mammoth 4.3 inches. Hate the crappy video quality of smart phone cameras? The EVO 4G can record 720p footage and even make two-way video calls. Mark Spoonauer, LAPTOP

When we played with the EVO last week, it was like holding something Q might have designed for Bond that looks like a black mini iPad. The latest of HTC's smartphones, the EVO's increased functionality and speed blow away the slim and sexy Legend (also running Android), the HD2 and the Desire. Courtney Boyd Myers, Pocket-Lint

It's so far ahead of other Sprint phones in so many ways, it's in a class that only contains the HTC Incredible, Google Nexus One, iPhone 3GS, and itself. The EVO is Sprint's "super phone," the ultimate handset for its network Sascha Segan, PC Magazine

Overall, the HTC EVO 4G is, hands-down, the best smarphone that Sprint has to offer and certainly ranks as one of the best Android phones on the market today. It's feature packed and powerful, and shows the promise of 4G. Bonnie Cha, CNet

The HTC EVO 4G is a certainly one of the best looking cell phones ever created. Its sleek, sexy and beautiful. Matt Burns, Crunchgear

IS THERE REALLY NO ICS FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY W AND Y?
Q. Is there really no ICS on Samsung Galaxy W? How the hell Samsung ever did this to a Good phone? HOW DARE???... I'm planing to buy this phone but when I knew it won't support ICS, I'm planing to Switch to HTC... Yeah its markey strategy, but a 6 month old Phone is considered old? F*CK you samsung, Their only give a sh*t on Galaxy SII and Note, but the other middle class wont?.. YEAH, good..
I WISH YOUR COMPANY WILL FALL!!!......

IF There is really no support for ICS on W,
then what is the phone as good as W?

A. Well yeah, there will never be ICS on Galaxy W officially. HTC One V is probably the closest I can think of and that comes with ICS out of the box.

According to Samsung themselves (although, I think it's just an excuse), because of TouchWiz, they can't put ICS onto these phones because they won't have the power to run it. So instead, they will give it a "Value Pack" update which is really just Gingerbread with some ICS features like Face Unlock.

My counter-argument: If TouchWiz is the problem, why not just get rid of TouchWiz and only keep just some of the icons and widgets and apps and let it run mostly on stock Android?

Anyways, I think you should just get the One V which has a lot of interesting features for a budget handset. It's got one of my favorite design (the chin from HTC Legend) and the UI is good looking. I'm a Galaxy S II user but honestly, the ICS update is ruined by Samsung's ugly TouchWiz skin which makes it look exactly the same as Gingerbread. Meanwhile, HTC is giving the One V HTC Sense 4.0 which looks more like ICS (but with a touch of HTC visuals). Not only that, it has Beats Audio. Check out the site here:
